چکیده

The outer Lesser Himalaya in eastern Nepal has gone through intense ductile shearing and recrystallization due to the emplacement of Higher Himalayan thrust sheet. It resulted formation various microstructures footwall rocks Himalaya. Present study focuses on quartz grain shear sense indicators metasedimentary interpret deformation characteristics area. Thin sections were prepared from oriented rock samples collected formations studied under petrographic microscope. occurrence diversity area manifests uneven distribution stress regime temperature conditions. Nevertheless, it suggests a progressive transition southern northern part. vicinity Dharapani Thrust represents mechanical higher strain lower Chimra Sheet exhibits mild- medium at basal section while high-temperature high-strain upper MCT.

Microstructures of the Higher and Lesser Himalayan sequences near Taliha, Arunachal Himalaya, India

In the upper Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh, India, Higher Himalayan Crystallines are exposed in and around Taliha and the outcrop of MCT in the immediate south of Taliha is recognizable with the development of tourmaline bearing leucogranite dykes representing melting of the crustal rocks. The gneisses of the Taliha area consist of mainly quartz, mica, K-feldspar and garnet. The Quart...

Thermal metamorphism in the lesser Himalaya of Nepal determined from Raman spectroscopy of carbonaceous material

The determination of metamorphic conditions is critical to the understanding of the formation of mountain belts. However, all collisional mountain belts contain large volumes of accreted sediments generally lacking metamorphic index minerals and are therefore not amenable to conventional petrologic investigations. By contrast, these units are often rich in carbonaceous material, making it possi...
